Eric Cantor and Chuck Schumer Head to Twitter to Debate the Budget
Senator Chuck Schumer and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor took to Twitter to debate budget cuts in 140 characters or less.
“Tks w/ @SpeakerBoehner were going well- serious budget cuts discussed until Tea Party forced him 2 move goalposts TP is only obstacle 2 deal,” @ChuckSchumer tweeted, arguing that Republican leaders are being led too far by the right wing of their party.
Five minutes later? A neatly packaged 140-characters-or-less response from Cantor’s war room.
“If @SenatorReid @ChuckSchumer force gov to partially shut down b/c they oppose sensible spending cuts, Americans will hold them accountable,” Eric Cantor’s @GOPLeader handle tweeted Monday afternoon.
